Fitting doors?

Make sure you store them flat and check it’s the right size before fitting.  All  sides should be sealed or knotted and  primed on both sides and remember to seal the letterbox section  as soon as you’ve cut it!

Don’t forget to protect the end grain as moisture can quickly seep into this area and  twist and warp your timber.  As timber will shrink naturally, it may be  a good idea to allow the door to adapt to its surroundings before fitting, it just might prevent the necessity to get a little carried away with the planer! If you do have to plane the  door, please be certain to take off equal amounts on each side.

As we are unable to monitor storage of all timber once it has left our premises, we are unable to offer any guarantees against shrinkage, warping and splitting (please see storage).
